Re-posting this for Anomaly because it disappeared - she's actually running it herself because I'm busy with the Triple Crown BUT YOU GUYS SHOULD ENTER because it's super awesome!
On the last Saturday in March, Dubai's Meydan Racecourse will be the host of the world's richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup. A total of five G1 races will be held on that day and showcase some of the best horses in the world, with racers coming in from dozens of countries to converge at Meydan in the UAE for a several months-long carnival dedicated to the Thoroughbred. All of the stakes races on Dubai World Cup Night are invitation only events, leading to fields comprising of only the best of the best in the world. On SS, we're celebrating the Dubai World Cup with our own version of this incredible day of racing!
The six SS Dubai World Cup races are as follows:
UAE Derby - 9.5f Dirt (3-year-olds only)
Al Quoz Sprint - 5f Turf (all ages)
Dubai Golden Shaheen - 6f Dirt (all ages)
Dubai Turf - 8.8f Turf (all ages)
Dubai Racing Carnival - 12f Turf (all ages)
Dubai World Cup - 10f Dirt (all ages)
*The UAE Derby is limited to horses that have raced in at least one prep for the 2016 Triple Crown or Triple Tiara!
Purse money will be included for ALL of these races, to be decided at a later date after conferring with Anomaly!
These races will all be open to horses that are G3 or higher - Open Level horses may enter, but they will not receive a weight break from their G3+ rivals. G2 and G1 horses will be given a higher weight impost, as per usual.
While these races are invitationals in real life, the final races will be open on a first-come, first-served basis to any horses that wish to enter. However, 3 spots will be reserved in the Dubai World Cup for the winners of the three rounds of the Al Maktoum Challenge.
A number of prep races for this event will be held over the next few weeks, so get your best horses together and start preparing for this world class night of racing!
The Dubai Racing Carnival is the richest conglomeration of the horse racing world, and we all managed to get a taste of it last year during the SS World Tour - but starting in 2016, this will once again become an annual event to help showcase some of the best older horses in the spring!
