What the title says haha. I'm creating some ribbons and while I was looking at real ribbons, I saw some cool American-style (red white & blue) ones and I'm thinking about holding a rodeo? Centered on an American theme and maybe sometime around the 4th of July...
I'm not sure if there'll be any interest, like there's barely enough people here for regular shows. I could just do it all myself in a smaller sort of 1- or 2-week-long thing, but maybe a bigger event could be nice? Here's a rough idea of what I could do just by myself...
One show each for: Western Pleasure, Reining, Barrel Racing, maybe Cutting...Also Western In-Hand...Not sure if there are others things? And each person can enter ~3 horses each per show? Maybe 4 idk? If multiple people want to contribute, we could do something like how we judged the Rio Olympics with a panel of judges instead of one judge per show.
I'm thinking SS, fancy American-style ribbons, and maybe belt buckles for awards (if I can figure out how to make some that look ok) for each discipline.
At the end of the rodeo, the top 10 (maybe more or less depending on participation?) horses could win extra prizes and SS determined by the total points they earn in all the disciplines, to encourage participating in more than one discipline. Kind of like the Year-End Festival tickets but there's only one bigger show per discipline, and it's horse-based and they're ranked based on the total points they earn in all the disciplines during the rodeo, so like 3rd place horse's owner (that maybe earned like 1st in Reining and 4th in WP and participation points in all the others) wins a pre-set group of prizes: SS, graphic awards, bragging rights, and maybe a custom horse or 'this prettly lil palomino QH mare'... Or maybe the pre-hexed horses are just like 1st place gets 1st pick from the lot, then 2nd, etc. since some people are more picky about mods/markings/breeds etc. & wouldn't want to be assigned just any horse.
Any interest? Any suggestions or ideas?
This idea could actually easily be enlarged as we could host multiple rodeos in different towns/states, like a rodeo series/circuit thing. Just not sure there's enough people around to really need that currently.
