Since I'm new here, I thought it would be cool if I made a thread to introduce and show off all the horses I have so far. The name of my Petz website is Black Mist Crittery, so I'm going to call my barn Black Mist Stable.
Lazarus was my first horse ever, and one of the first horses Manda gave out, I think. It was the early days of the V1 file in any case. I won a contest and as my prize I got to design my own horse, and this is the look I came up with. I don't know why I named him Lazarus, I just thought it sounded cool. Then later I came up with a show name that went along with it. Laz has always been a special horse because he was my first. And he has heterochromia, which I have always been very fascinated with.
When Manda first started handing out the file, I was one of the people she chose to give it to. I felt so honored! I knew I immediately needed to hex an appaloosa because I love them so much. It was a challenge figuring everything out in the horse file, and making the spots look good on so many balls. But I liked figuring it out, and I think I did okay. So this is Avalon, the first horse I hexed. She's named after a song by Cyndi Lauper.
My non-realistic horse, but very beautiful. Hexed by Lizzie @ Flookey. The first horse I made an application for. Isn't she so pretty? Look at that hand print! That's some great spot work there. I'm not that good with spots so I'm very impressed with cool markings like that. And she has a very pretty texture and such a pretty color scheme, I love her eye colors too. Another odd-eyed horse.
An almost realistic horse, but not quite. I hexed Skullduggery to look like a Breyer horse (a brand of collectible plastic model horses) that I really wish I could have. But he's a special addition Halloween horse from many years ago so finding him second hand is not easy and he is very expensive so I can't afford him. So I decided I needed one in Petz instead. As I said I'm not that good at detailed spot work, so making his markings was hard. I hope you can tell, but his appaloosa spots are supposed to look like a skull, and his blaze is supposed to look like a ghost.
When I came back to Petz recently I found the SS downloads page and when I saw an Arabian file I knew I had to hex some right away, because Arabians are my favorite breed of horse. So I looked for some inspiration for a horse that was pretty, but not too complicated to hex, since my skills are rusty. So I found a picture of a Stone horse (another brand of model horse) I liked and hexed Thunder Strike here. She and Solar Noise are my first two V2 horses. I really like them and all the different breed mods so I'm gonna have to get way more horses soon. XD
Solar Noise was hexed to look like a Stone horse I actually own. I don't own many of them because they are more expensive than Breyers. But I really like roans so Solar Noise is one of my favorites, and I really like the name too, so I decided to hex him. At first I had a really hard time making a roan texture. The first one I made looked really lame. XD But my second attempt was much better, and this is what Solar Noise looks like now. But I'm not sure I'm quite finished with him. I should probably add some blending spots to the areas where his darker points start. But I haven't gotten around to it yet. Solar Noise and Thunder Strike get along really well. They grew up together, I let them age naturally, then they fell in love. So I might breed them at some point in the future. I'd like to have my own little line of Arabians. But I'm not sure how good at showing I will be. But I'll give it a go and see.
So those are my horses. I also technically have some other horses, from much older and more “petzy” files that are not accepted at SS so I didn't show them here. But if you are curious you can see them on my website in the Stable section. I've considered re-hexing them as Manda V2 horses, but I haven't decided if I will do that yet. I'd like to be able to show them, but I also like the nostalgia factor. For that same reason I've been debating upgrading my V1 horses to V2s, but I can't decide if I will or not. It would be great to give them actual breeds and show them (the realistic ones of course), but at the same time they have such history the way they are, I haven't decided yet. So for now they are original make and model.
YS's Rise From Death, “Lazarus”
Lazarus was my first horse ever, and one of the first horses Manda gave out, I think. It was the early days of the V1 file in any case. I won a contest and as my prize I got to design my own horse, and this is the look I came up with. I don't know why I named him Lazarus, I just thought it sounded cool. Black Mist's Sisters of Avalon , “Avalon”
Lizzie's Nierika, “Nierika”

Black Mist's Solar Noise, “Solar Noise”
Solar Noise was hexed to look like a Stone horse I actually own. I don't own many of them because they are more expensive than Breyers.
