I'm currently looking into starting a petzy project involving animal production research and am currently looking into seeing what people's views/preferences are on the matter! I do realize not everyone here knows everything about animal production/agriculture, but I still want to see what the general preference is! This is something I'm hugely into in real life and am looking into making my career and I just want to talk about it always!!!
So to the point of this thread! The poll just lists a bunch of production animals but when you vote for an animal, i'd like you to keep some things in mind when picking your "favourite"
- In general, what is your favourite animal out of these? If you were to do animal production agriculture, which animal would you choose to raise? Which animal of animal agriculture do you want to learn more about?
I want to hear everyones opinions! Please feel free to comment, especially if you have any interest at all! I'd love to discuss!
In short, this info will be used for a petzy project I'm working on!
I voted for meat poultry, and small meat & dairy ruminants Those are the ones that I would choose to raise and also what I'd like to learn more about, particularly meat poultry vs. egg poultry, although if I could've chosen more than 3 answers then my fourth probably would've been swine.

Interesting answers! I'm glad not everyone picked equestrian hahahaha
Personally, if I had to answer my own poll (which I will in my actual career!) beef or dairy cattle would be my number 1. I have quite a bit of knowledge already of both. Recently am becoming more into aquaculture as well.
As for sheeps and goats, I currently don't know that much about their agriculture. I'm mainly focused on cattle and chickens in school, sometimes swine, but I'll actually be doing something with small ruminants in one of my classes soon so I'll be able to give info then.
I do have some knowledge about broiler (meat) vs egg poultry, at least when it comes to chicken. I don't know too much about other poultry (geese or ducks for example) but if anyone has any questions about the chicken industry I can answer it to the best of my ability or refer you to a source that better explains things! Like I said before, I'm more of a cattle girl so I can answer questions about that industry as well! I actually already have actual experience in the beef side of things
I put egg and meat poultry because I seriously adore chickens and other poultry birds, and then I also put other. I put other because I like the idea of goats/sheep/whatever, but I didn't know enough about the meat vs diary option to pick between them XD
My mom said that Holsteiner bulls can be pretty unpleasant to be around, too. We were literally just talking about animal production and agriculture on our drive home and she was telling me a little about the sheep that she and my aunt raise.
I pretty obviously chose equestrian first and foremost because that's what I would do, but I didn't realize you could pick three choices ahaha, so I just did that. The other two I chose are small meat ruminants and dairy cattle, because I'd love to learn more about them.
