I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about textures showing up wonky in p4 (and p5, I've tried the file in both). I'm currently trying to hex a foal out of Jewellz' Songbird by Mezzanotte, which requires a bit of external texture use. When I first opened up Songbird in-game to see how she looked to hex a baby, she was fine. However, after attempting to use a texture on the horse that I was hexing, Songbird turned pink...and the baby has the same issues...
Since I'm not done hexing the baby and am just trying to get the texture to work at the moment, here's a picture of what Songbird looks like in my game..
The textures are grizzle35drk.bmp, grizzle35hv.bmp, and grizzle35med.bmp. They all have \resource\dogz in lnz, and transparency set at 75 on a 95 coloured paintball. This issue is occurring both in p4 and p5. If anyone could help, that would be quite lovely!
"Guinevere's solution. So right click on Petz and basically tell it that the game is not showing up properly and the graphics aren't like they used to. I've got a number of dogz that have that - even some of my Border Terriers from Supernova (not sure which furfile it is) have pink spots unless I tell the computer that Petz is not running the graphics properly."
"Right-click on an empty spot on the desktop>Screen Resolution>Advanced Settings>List All Modes>Scroll up. You should see some 256 color modes. Select one. Click Ok. Click Apply."
And if you're not using Windows 7 then I still have no help lol.
Edit: Also note that the second fix will change your whole screen's colors, while the 1st fix might only apply to the game, but idk because I can't test it.

I'm running Windows 10, I have a similar option so I tested it. Tried running in Windows XP compatibility mode...nope. Tried running in 256 colour scheme, it literally flipped all of the icons in the adoption center upside down and still didn't fix the spots. I tried 16bit and it didn't do anything. I tried XP, Run As Admin, 256, and 16 bit all at the same time and there are still measles on the horses, lmao.
I wonder if it's a problem with Windows 10 itself?
Have you tried checking the texture's bit-depth? This reminds me of an issue I had waaay back when I had a .bmp saved at 24-bit instead of 8-bit and it was causing one horse to show up almost completely pink >.<
To check it, right click the texture, go to properties, click details, and under the Image text there should be a thing that says Bit-depth. It should be 8-bit, but if it's not, you can change it by saving the file as .bmp in paint.net and selecting the bullet that say 8-bit.
Although if it's not that then I don't have a clue what the problem is.

I had this problem with external textures, in windows 10 it seems to be caused by the computer auto correcting the petz files external texture locations to internal ones, and messing with the no. that show how they appear in game, you have to open the petz file and correct it each time XP it's done it to my stallion signal 4 different times and my new boy dutch coffee 2 times. let me know if this helps, we may be having slightly different issues but it sounds like the same problem
Jez - I looked at those, unfortunately they were already 8 bit AlexisRyuun - I adopted one of my WIPs of the foal and tried to change the texture list and rewrite it, unfortunately having no impact on the pink spots Pollution - That's what I thought at first and I may try re-hexing the foal entirely and adding the textures only in LNZ. The thing I'm wondering about that though is, why would that impact Songbird as well? Lol..petz is weird
I can't believe it lmao. It's because I added the texture in PW....it impacted any other horse I had in game with that texture...petz IS weird, haha! Well, thanks Pollution for the solution!
I think it changes the texture .bmp to something not compatible. I think just re-downloading the texture and replacing the old one should fix it without you having to completely re-hex. Unless you've tried that already XD
EDIT: saw your edit! glad i could help! XD
