Eventing is the ultimate test of horse and rider. One event, three disciplines in three days, testing the resolve of the partnership between horse and rider. It is one of the most popular equestrian sports worldwide and my personal favorite to watch.
Dressage is held on the first day. Spectators enjoy the grace, refined beauty, and elegance of dressage as competitors trot their way through the first phase of competition. Dressage tests the gaits, suppleness, and obedience of the horse through a series of prescribed movements.
Cross-Country is the highlight of Eventing. Spectators gather outdoors to watch horses and riders gallop over miles of challenging terrain, at speeds up to 25 mph, while negotiating remarkable obstacles such as jumps, water hazards, banks, and ditches.
Jumping brings the focus on energy and precision back to the outdoor stadium where spectators witness horses and riders test their athletic ability, conditioning, and training as they soar over jumps.
I often wonder why there aren't very many people competing in Eventing on SS, and I think it's because it's intimidating (three poses AND stats!?) and also maybe some of you have never seen real Eventing or know what it is. It's THRILLING to watch even though it takes forever to watch a whole competition. Here's a much shorter video with some highlights:
Now what's this about a clinic?! Rhapsody will host a 4-day Novice Eventing Clinic open to any horses that have a value of 3 or less in each of the Eventing stats so, most novice-level as well as brand-new Eventers will be accepted.
There are two ways to enter a horse in the clinic:
1. If you already have Eventing poses, you can simply enter in the competition which will be posted in the Eventing shows section.
2. If you don't have any Eventing poses, or are missing one, there will be a thread in the posing service section where you can fill in a form and send your horse to me and I will pose them for you and enter them into the competition myself.
Day 1: Training - all horses and riders will be worked with individually. Horses will receive 3 stat boosts to be determined by the trainer (me)
Day 2: Dressage competition
Day 3: Cross-Country competition
Day 4: Show Jumping competition, final tally of points, and awards - horses will receive stat boosts to be determined by how well they performed all three days (the number of which will be determined based on the total number of horses enrolled)
I encourage anyone and everyone to enroll in the clinic as it is a great way to build up some stats, and also get some poses if you don't have them. Up to 4 horses per person will be accepted!
There will be a graphic award you can keep to put in your horses' stables for participating in the clinic.
As the outcomes of the competitions will be completely random (based on dice rolls), I plan on entering 4 horses of my own.
Take a look at the competition and posing service threads!
