Though the air has cooled and the sun descends, it's still a great day for racing as we close out with our Sprint Qualifier for Rio! Older horses are the spotlight today and headlined by the ever popular and ultra consistent The Final Apostle from Hawkstone, with his stablemate Deja Entendu joining the field for a late running effort. Eclipse winning sprinter Rationalist of Hard Tack returns from Dubai to the site of his many victories with stablemate Carrig looking to bounce back from a poor finish in a previous qualifier. Rhapsody is represented by Chantilly and Voodoo, both graded winners with Chantilly the sharper of the two at hte rail. Perfection of Reed Stables is sure to be setting the pace just as he likes it and he will be hard to pass if he can make it to the front by himself, while Fair Play of RKO looks to make a race of it on the front end. Amazombie from Elbeess looks to jump way up in class as he tries to bounce back from a long skid, while Ziva returns from a layoff to try and get a piece of it to Rio for Burning Acres. BlueJay is represented by recent acquisition Gentiva, a graded stakes winner and former Breeders' Cup competitor that looks to continue her winning way as the oldest horse in the field.
With only 11 in the field, it looks to be deceptively short but with an Eclipse winner, former Breeders' Cup runners and a number of graded winners, the field may be short on numbers but huge on class as they step into the gate for their 6 furlong dash for glory!
The Road to Rio continues on SS!
