Race Replay
Last week saw Belmont Stakes' winner and Triple Crown spoiler Rancor stride past his archrival Skeptic to take the Tiznow and earn his place in history by setting a new stakes record while he was at it. On this beautiful Chicago day, 13 more mares and stallions head onto the dirt track for their hand at a spot in the BC led of course by Rhapsody's dual-Classic winner Skeptic, who looks to bounce back after a skid; he's accompanied by filly Charisma, trying males in the BC for the first time. Shashka's multiple graded stakes winner American Pharaoh looks to press Skeptic on the lead, along with Turn & Burn's Rozlyn; Burning Acres' Dortmund looks to avenge a second place finish last time out along with stablemate Armin, while Oaks winner Cylcone Princess looks to rebound after two poor efforts. FiL comes back with Desperado, still looking for that dirt stakes win, while Sunfire returns with Princess' half-brother Augustus, fresh off a win in graded company. BlueJay comes back strong with last out winner SeaBlue Royalty with Mezzanotte looking to try his hand at a dirt BC prep. Black Water returns with the hard-knocking Bells o War, still trying to breakthrough, while Nightshade enters distaffer Penny as she jumps up in class. This field of 13 mares and stallions will look to storm the winner's circle after their 10 furlong journey, and it's anyone's guess who will be this year's winner of the Spectacular Bid as they take to the gate for the start!
