Race Replay
Last week we saw Bells o War hold off the furious charge of Swashbuckle to win it by a bare nose, and this week it's a full field looking to ride in on his coat tails to the Breeders' Cup in this year's Shackleford!
Rhapsody blazes in hard with last week's Shack winner in Skeptic, now a dual classic winner and Dubai placed runner; Overdraft, a contestant in last year's Breedres' Cup and top dirt miler; and Honestly, winner of this year's Acorn and a top three year old filly. Hard Tack comes in with last week's 2nd place finisher Swashbuckle, this year's top handicapper by a mile, and Carrig, a dirt sprinter finally rounding back into form after an off first half of the year. Hawkstone roars back into contention here with Duality, last year's BC Sprint winner and top handicapper; Derringer, a son of Man o War that's still looking that elusive 2016 win, and The Final Apostle, a gold medalist from Rio and top sprinter/miler on the dirt that looms dangerously in this field. Burning Acres' returns with the ever consistent Dortmund, a colt that loves the lead and loves it uncontested; BlueJay returns with last out winner SeaBlue Royalty, who defeated several in his field in a Grade II stakes, and speedy juvenile Shook Up, also a Rio medalist looking to take a big step up in class. Turn & Burn comes in with Onyx, that stable's top sprinter but possibly over his head in this crowd; while Polluted Stables comes in with Landon, another top dirt sprinter still looking for that win. Sunfire rounds out the field with ultra consistent and ever dangerous Augustus, a top finalist for the 2 year old Eclipse and a monster on the main track. With this enormous full field, it's the best ever assembled for a dirt mile race on the forum, and it's a question of which top horse will take the glory as they load into the gate for this year's Shackleford Handicap!
