Race Replay
It's that time of year again as new foals gambol in the field and winter descends in earnest on the country. For all new minted three year olds, however, it means that the race is on for the coveted Crown of spring Classics, and today we embark on that journey with nine fabulous fillies all vying for a spot in the Kentucky Oaks!
Rhapsody's Illicit will show the way as the daughter of former Tiara competitor Royal Ransom has flashed immense talent in her short career. She's folower closely by stablemate Lark, a flashy frontrunner that will have company in in the form of Hard Tack's Elysium and stablemate Djinn, two half-sisters of the immortal champion Ruffian. Noble Hierarch is Illicit's half sister and daughter of a Breeder's Cup champion in Barbaro, and has flashed similar ability to her sister's. Riverside makes their classics debut with Rhapsody, a turf filly looking to make her mark on the dirt. Shade enters a triple threat of newbies in the form of Fairy, Penny and Katrina,
It's a sunny but excessively windy day here on the East Coast, with the surrounding trees nearly bent over backwards in the onslaught. Here at the track, however, it's all about the ladies as these nine primed and ready fillies enter the gate for this year's Silverbulletday Stakes.
The Road to the Oaks begins NOW on Seeing Stars!
