- Up to 3 entries per person, 14 horses total.
- Please double-check your horse's distance and surface preferences to make sure you want to enter them. All British Classics and trials are run on turf tracks!
- Horses of any grade level are welcome! Impost weight will increase the higher grade they are.
- Horses competing in this race will be considered 3 years old in the year 2019 and will not be eligible to compete in any 3yo races in future years.
- Competing in this race will enable your horse to enter into any upcoming 2019 British Classic races! A horse must compete in at least one trial/prep this year before entering a Classic race. (The British call them trials, Americans call them preps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
- The first Classics are the 2000 Guineas (8F) on May 4th and the 1000 Guineas (8F, fillies only) on May 5th.
This race is restricted to 3-year-old colts only!
If your colt competed in any 3yo race (the Triple Crown/Tiara series, UAE Derby, British Classics) from 2011 - 2018, it is ineligible this year. You can check this post and this one to ensure your horse has not previously participated.
Again, don't laugh, I'm new at writing these haha
As the sun touches the horizon, six colts load up in the gate for the first colt's British trial this year. Chances are, they're all pointed towards the 2000 Guineas in May. These six all sport nice pedigrees, with most of their parents having had notable wins and achievements on the track.
Rhapsody Stable's War Hero is the favorite after winning his last race, the bettors probably also know his sire was a proven winner on turf, having won in Dubai and the Breeder's Cup. Rhapsody's Method gains the third choice as he's just stepped up from open level to Grade 3 but has had several in-the-money finishes. Hard Tack's London Bridge is a close second choice to War Hero after having won several of his last races, his dam also won the 1000 Guineas two years ago. General Disarray sports slightly longer odds after not running too well on dirt lately, the bettors seem to beleive he might show more gumption on the turf. Riverside's Dream Gazer, son of a Kentucky Derby/Belmont and Breeder's Cup winner, is celebrating a recent win and hopes to keep that momentum going. Synovus Stable's Draconis is a newcomer and half-sibling to the favorite, War Hero. He's just starting to show some potential in the start of his racing career.
