Welcome to the Acorn Stakes, the final jewel of the Triple Tiara! Superstar filly Athena Watchover has taken the first two legs of the crown with ease - a romp in the Oaks and a gutsy victory in the Black Eyed Susan. Capping it all with a win against males in the Preakness, Athena is poised for racing immortality and it's only 8 furlongs between her and the crown. She's not the only horse in the race however - familiar rivals and new shooters abound as we draw the spring classics to a close and come to the dramatic finale of the road to the Triple Tiara!

Three weeks ago, we witnessed the birth of a legend - Athena Watchover not only took the Black Eyed Susan Stakes to notch the second Jewel of the Triple Tiara, she also beat the boys in the Preakness Stakes to make her mark as one of the best fillies to ever grace the racing turf. With a gritty victory over her rivals, Athena Watchover made it to the brink of the historical abyss, with only eight furlongs between her and history.
Only 8 other fillies have dared to try and stand between Athena and her date with history - many of whom she's already tackled and toppled before. Zen War, the daughter of Zenyatta and Kentucky Derby runner Man o War, is the only new filly brave enough to set foot on the track as Ami, Chime and Chicanery will be back for more after taking their pot shots at the 2 year old filly champion, only to be repelled at every turn. Athena has proven she can win on the lead, win from off the pace and win in a duel to the finish with the same fire and determination that has infused the Thoroughbred for generations.
The race for the final jewel of the Triple Tiara begins now.
