Ziva was maybe a month and a half last time I posted pictures of her. She's a year and some odd months now sooo she's due for another photo thread!!
I joined a breed group on Facebook, so we've been going to husky meets. Ziva vocalizes like no other and it sounds rather aggressive but she's all play. It's great to take her to meets where she's free to romp and talk back.
^lulz just noticed the pre-humping going on in the background...
Most recently, there was an urban mushing demo. Ziva took to it like a fish to water. Sooo, I bought the equipment and hopefully can get started with her soon. (I'm nuts, I know) The demo let people try out the harnesses and scooters. Awesome, awesome experience.
^my face looks hella awkward :x she was pulling SO hard I had to brake like crazy
^lookit that happy tongue
Just this morning, the lady that organized the demo agreed to meet me at a local bike trail. She let me and Ziva run with her and boyfriend's dogs. SO incredibly proud of Ziva for keeping up with those seasoned veteran mushing dogs haha. The dog lined up with Ziva is Lyon. I cannot praise that dog enough. Lyon kept the line taunt and taught Ziva the ropes AND played with her haha.
One thing that surprised me is how big Ziva is compared to other huskies. The average husky is about 40lbs and not nearly as fluffy as her. I guess we just got a big fluff muffin of a dog hahaha. She's 60lbs, but she's tall and long. Makes me wonder if she'll continue to bulk up x.x
SO MANY POOFY PUPPIES. Kitta was such a talker - she'd get all up in your face howling and woo'ing, but it was rarely aggressive. Except if you were a raccon or a possum, then you'd best watch out haha. Best treeing coon-husky I've ever seen lmao.
That looks like so much fun! I follow a blog called "Gone To The Snow Dogs" on Youtube and they have a video dedicated to getting your dog used to mushing on a bike... and what equipment to buy if you wanna mush with a sled in the winter lol.
Kitta was also a biiig girl but she was stockier than Ziva. I think she topped out around 60 lbs too and was just all POOF haha. We'd give her a bath and she'd suddenly look twice as big once she was dry.
wonderful thread as i said shes shot up a very beautiful girl ! Urban mushing looks great fun I would eventually love to try it but dont think its a big thing over here in England..... hmm maybe I should start a new hobby haha
Good luck with her you look like you are having great fun !
Thanks, guys <3 The equipment should be arriving in the mail later this week. Though the harness may take a while. I've heard 4 weeks and up to 8 weeks. Dx
Neco: I follow them, too, on YouTube! Awww Kitta sounds adorable <33 And yesh, huskies just loose all dignity when wet hahaha poor things
Ava: omg please post pictures of your lovelies <3
The people that let me run with them yesterday prefer grass and dirt because its easier on their dogs' legs/paws/etc. It was so funny to see the instant DROP in speed once those dogs hit pavement. They were like NOPE. Ziva doesn't seem to care much yet, but I'm sure with her diva tendencies she'll develop a preference soon enough hahaha.
