YES!!! He'll be here in 12 or so hourssss <3 They're starting the trip around 6am, so should be here around my Riding lesson I opted for a ground work lesson so that if they happen to come during the lesson we'll be at the round pen vs. off on a trail somewhere
SO MANY PICTURES TO COME! He's all winter fuzzy <3
I think I'm going to have to bring a vet out... the BO is a bit of a... over-reactor and has each horse that comes into go into quarantine, despite UTD vaccines and such... which I don't mind the quarantine, but there's no shelter in quarantine, it's just an open pasture, no trees, etc. and though it's been in the high 50's-60's, it's been pouring rain for several days now and he's not used to being out 24/7 without at least a run-in, so he's gotten sick -.-;; Or at least I think. His right eye is weepy and his breathing sounds audible and wheezy, so needless to say I'm calling the vet in the morning. I'm a new patient and Berry's not in his system yet so I am hoping that because he knows the BOs and lives literally three houses down, that he'll make time to come out. My trainer (BO's daughter) is going to look him over when she gets back into town, as well but I want a vet's opinion. Also, can't hurt to just have him looked over in general.
I love this little guy so much already. Today he was a bit spooky and nervous, so we didn't spend too much time together, and I had to get back to the house for some work...
Question, all stalls are leased out so I don't have a stall for him right now And he's got a bit of rain rot from the last farm he was at and my bf's mom has been working to get rid of it, but since he's in my custody now, I'm working to get rid of it, and it's my first time dealing with this since I never had to before haha. To my understanding you have to keep the horse out of rain so the medicine has a chance to set in; what would you suggest as far as preventing him from getting wet when in pasture since I don't have a stall? Would a rain coat be of any assistance or cause another slew of problems? He's not ever been blanketed so there's a chance he'll be all "WTF is this?!" lol. Baby steps.
