Two weeks ago we saw Elysium thunder from the gate and lead the field from wire to wire to add the first jewel of the Triple Tiara to her crown in the Kentucky Oaks in a romp. With the first leg of the Triple Tiara down, Elysium steps into the ring again to take on all comers as the war moves to Baltimore, MD and the storied Pimlico Racecourse for the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. With Heretic Queen's 2018 triumph fresh in the minds of trainers and fans alike, this seal brown daughter of the immortal Ruffian will face her second strict test in a row as we expect a top group of fillies to contest this year's middle jewel of the Triple Tiara.

Call
Two weeks ago, we saw Elysium live up to the hype as the two year old champion filly ran her rivals off their feet with a scintilliating victory in the Oaks. The sun is finally in the sky afer a miserable last few days, and the slop that marred Churchill Downs on Oaks weekend is a distant memory as we arrive in Maryland for the second jewell of the Triple Tiara!
Rhapsody's Illicit will once again garner the betting public's favor, off a history-breaking win in the Kentucky Derby. Elysium is hot on her heels though, as for the first time ever, we have two fillies of the biggest spring classics in the country facing off with a possible Triple on either side. Flashy Lark is the third choice and she looks to be a factor off a strong performance in Kentucky, while Djinn will look to turn her 1000 Guineas form into a winning combination on the dirt for a double never before attempted. Noble Hierarch will also be trying to turn her recent stellar turf form around to the main track, after hitting the board in the 1000 Guineas and winning a classic trial just days earlier. Wildbird is the longest shot on the board, but don't count the flighty filly of two Triple winners out; she has speed to spare and will use it to her advantage if her rivals aren't careful.
It's a small but shining field that takes to the mud once more for this week's race, and the parade is led by the dual classic winners Illicit and Elysium as they load into the gate for the 2018 edition of the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.
