Three weeks ago, Derby winner Illicit led the way home less than a furlong out and looked like the queen we've all craved - until Damask and Elysium ran her down in the final strides. With no Triple Crown on the line, we move to Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes, a grueling 12 furlong test on the main track, a distance that many of these horses will never see again. It's a heralded rubber match between Damask and Illicit, as Derby and Preakness winner look to butt heads to decide who's the best sophmore on the forum - with Elysium to give her 2 cents to the matter. These top three horses have been the only ones to win on the Derby trail this year, and with a Derby, Oaks and Preakness winner going all out to the finish, it's like the Breeders' Cup came early for the forum as these three clash in the Test of the Champion.

Three weeks ago, Damask stole the show and sent Illicit to heartbreak city as the only female Derby winner could not hold off the late drive of both Damask and Elysium in the Preakness Stakes. However we now move on to the real test - 12 long furlongs at beautiful Belmont Park, around three sweeping turns in the longest distance of the series and the one that will make or break a champion.
Elysium is the favorite today after winning her last start in commanding fashion, and looks to improve on her showing in the Preakness and Derby to finally win an open-company classic. Illicit isn't about to let her get off easy and she'll be right behind her in the betting as these two break side by side from the gate. Her full brother General Disarray will also be second choice on the tote board after placing in the Epsom Derby, and he'll look to transfer that form to dirt after several off the board finishes in this classic series. Preakness winner Damask will be hot on their heels and is a flashy favorite for the crowd, while the rallying Lark will look to be a factor late in the race if Elysium gets herself run into the ground by Illicit. Noble Hierarch will be the longest shot on the board, and the Epsom Oaks winner will have to transfer that stellar turf form of hers into the dirt after showing she can get 12 furlongs on the grass.
It's a gang of familiar faces and flying dirt as these six colts and fillies take to the track for the final spring classic. It's a rubber match between two stablemates with Derby winner Illicit looking to get revenge on Preakness winner Damask, with the rest of the field looking to play the upset over 12 long furlongs on the Belmont main track.
The Triple Crown all comes to an end NOW on Seeing Stars!
