WELCOME TO THE 2019 SEEING STARS MOST WANTED SUMMER COMPETITION!
For the next eight weeks, until September 21th 2019, we will be enjoying a cavalcade of shows, events and prizes available to each and every member!
What does “Most Wanted” mean? Modeled after the Retired Racehorse Project’s “Most Wanted Thoroughbred” event, the SS Most Wanted competition isn’t based solely on one breed – we embrace all breeds and file types on Seeing Stars, and this is a competition to prove that your horse is not only the best of its discipline or breed - but the BEST around period. Horses all across the forum from all members will be allowed to compete across three overall disciplines and 10 different show types – all for the coveted title of “Most Wanted” on Seeing Stars.
Shows Galore!
The whole point of the Most Wanted Competition is to prove your horse is god tier of their chosen discipline – and we’ll have three disciplines total in our competition. They will be:
Discipline Types
Conformation: (Halter & In-Hand)
English: (Dressage, Driving, Eventing, HUS, Jumping)
Western: (Barrel Racing, Endurance Racing, Reining, Western Pleasure)
PLEASE NOTE: What will NOT be included in this Most Wanted Competition will be Thoroughbred racing or Showmanship – only the normal show types will count toward your point totals as you work your way to the title of “Most Wanted.”
All of the shows will be run as normal but only those posted in the “Most Wanted” boards will count toward your point totals for the competition – but you will still be earning normal pose points toward your horse’s titles! Any pose points you earn in the Most Wanted shows will count toward your horse’s title regardless of whether or not you reach the Top 5 of any discipline. I will be running both normal and advanced shows, so even horses that are already titled will have a chance to earn points toward a Most Wanted placement.
All Most Wanted points earned in these shows will rank 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 in respect to your 1st through 5th placements. These points will go toward your horse’s full Most Wanted title, earning it rankings among the other horses that are entered in the same discipline.
All Halter and In-Hand points will be added together for your Conformation title, all English show points will be added toward your English title, and all Western show points will be added to your Western title. So if you enter HUS and Jumping, your Most Wanted points will be added together to decide your horse’s overall ranking in the Discipline. The same with Western – if you enter both Reining and Western Pleasure, all Most Wanted points you earn will count toward your total for your Western discipline ranking.
Can you enter more than one show type?
Of course you can! In fact, it’s encouraged! If you have one horse that you’d like to enter in English and Western shows, they will earn Most Wanted points toward each of those two disciplines based on the shows they enter within that discipline, as explained above.
Each discipline will have its own leaderboard that will vary depending on how many horses are entered in each discipline, but only the Top 5 will earn prizes and go on to compete in the final showdown for the Most Wanted title on Seeing Stars.
Who can host shows?
ANYONE can host shows! No matter who hosts, mod or member, you will earn Most Wanted points for the leaderboards and points toward your horses’ championships. As long as you know the rules of the show you’re hosting, you can open as many as you like – just be sure to judge them in a timely manner!
I will be the only one allowed to host and judge the final show.
The Final 15 – Top Honors on the line
So being the top horse in your discipline is fine and good – but what about the final title, “Most Wanted?”
The horses that rank in the Top 5 of each three disciplines will go on to compete directly with each other in the final battle for the Most Wanted title. It will be a huge multi-disciplinary show that will be the final fight for the Top 15 horses from each discipline for the title of Most Wanted on Seeing Stars.
The show will be in three parts – every horse must enter a pose from Conformation (either Halter or In-Hand), English (see above) and Western (see above). Each pose will be pitted against each other whether it’s unedited or edited – so a halter pose will be judged against in-hand poses, jumping vs HUS, WP vs barrel racing, etc etc. Each pose will be judged against the STANDARD of its chosen show in addition to being judged against the other horses that are entered.
So for example, if you enter a halter pose in the confirmation phase, it will be judged not just against the other halter and in-hand poses of the show, but also against the standard of the perfect halter pose as laid out in the rules of Halter posing. The same will go for In-hand – except there will be no randomized judging. It will be based on the state of the pose and how well it shows of its bridle or halter. The same will be applied to any English and Western discipline pose you choose to enter – you can choose from any of the accepted pose shows in this competition and I will judge them on how best they conform and represent the standard of the show.
PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT be judging on your editing skills in any shape or form! If you enter an In-hand, HUS, WP, Driving or Endurance pose, I will only judge it based on how it conforms to the standard of the show type itself. This means you can enter a plain unedited gaiting pose for HUS, WP and Driving; both In-hand and Endurance require tack, but again you DO NOT have to edit the pose – simply adding the tack to the best of your ability so that it best shows off its chosen type is more than enough.
In addition to being judged against the standard of the show, the horses will be judged against each other as normal and the best horse that represents its show standard and has the best pose compared to its competitors will win. This will be true across all three disciplines in the final show, and the horse with the highest point total will win the title of “Most Wanted” on Seeing Stars!
Prizes Prizes Prizes!
Because this is a competition, there will of course be prizes for the Top 5 of each category – and the Top 5 horses on the forum.
Most Wanted Top 15 Prizes
Top Prize: 25,000 SS to the winner – plus a “Mystery Grand Prize” bonus!
Secondary Prizes: 10,000 SS for 2nd – 8th
Tertiary Prizes: 5,500 SS for 9th – 15th
What is the Mystery Grand Prize? Obviously I can’t tell you – but the winner of the Most Wanted Competition will earn a substantial SS prize in addition to a secret prize that they will be messaged about once the competition is over!
Top Discipline Prizes
Top Prize: 15,000 SS to the winner per discipline (3 overall winners)
Secondary Prizes: 5,000 SS for 2nd – 5th placements per discipline
Tertiary Prizes: 2,000 SS for 6th – 10th placements per discipline
No one is left high and dry during the Most Wanted Competition, and the Top 10 of each discipline will earn a nice chunk of SS to put toward their future horse purchases or anything else they prefer on Seeing Stars. The Top winners of each discipline may also get their own version of the Mystery Prize if we get a lot of interest as well…
Top Breed Type Prizes
Top Prize: 8,000 SS to the winner per breed type (5 overall winners)
Secondary Prizes: 4,000 SS for 2nd – 5th placements per breed type
Tertiary Prizes: 2,000 SS for 6th – 10th placements per breed type
In addition to Discipline winners, I’ll also have smaller prizes available for horses that are the Top 5 of their breed type! This will only count as a small part of the competition, as unlike the RRP’s competition, we’re focusing on all breeds in our competition. The breed types will be as follows:
Draft – Includes both heavy and light drafts, Irish Draught, etc
Warmbloods – Includes ISHs, Hanoverians, Irish Warmblood, Westfalens, etc
Light – Includes Morgans, American Paint Horse, Mustangs, TWHs, mules, etc
Racing – Includes Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Arabian horses
Ponies – Includes all pony types
If you’re unsure of your horse’s type, message me and we can figure it out together.
If you’re itching for more chances to earn points for your horses or were looking for more activity to get you back into Seeing Stars – here’s your chance! This competition will run until September 21st, 2019 and while it may seem like it’ll be open for a while, time can fly quickly – summer will be over before you know it and your chance to become Most Wanted on Seeing Stars may be gone with it.
Go go go!
