Race Replay
Last week, Moxie came from the clouds to explode onto the BC scene, charging from dead last at the top of the lane to run down Dubai winner Adamatium to snag the first spot in the Breeders' Cup Turf in November.
This week, Adamantium is once more the favorite and this time he aims to win, putting his stellar record on the line to continue his best season yet. Rhapsody's Candore will look to play giant killer and has an impeccable pedigree of his own, having won half of his previous starts this year and placing in numerous graded stakes to boot. Accendere is a daughter of a previous Breeders' Cup winner in Empire City, and she'll look to live up to daddy's horseshoes as this flashy front-running filly will try to run her rivals off their feet. The ever consistent Warpaint is fourth on the morning line, but not for lack of trying; this red colt is a serious competitor no matter what the distance and placing in a number of Dubai stakes. Carthage is right on his heels and as a son of two time BC winner Southern Dancer, the pressure will be on to keep up the family tradition as the chestnut colt looks to improve a somewhat lackluster 2019 form. Vixin is also 5 - 1 on the morning line, after an abortive effort last out in the Shergar, and with another speed filly in the race, she'll have to improve her attitude to keep running when it counts. Dyllinger is the longest shot on the board, in double digits, and while the son of Dynaformer has always been consistent, it's possible he's in over his head compared to this week's competition.
It's a beautiful day for a horse race with the sun shining after morning thunderstorms, and the turf is feet-rattling firm as these seven colts and fillies take to the truf course for that second coveted spot for this year's Breeders' Cup Turf.
The Road to the Breeders' Cup continues NOW on SS!
