Race Replay
Last week's Busher Handicap, Reverence stunned her rivals with a sweeping move on the final turn to hold off Derby winner Illicit by daylight in her Breeders' Cup debut. Today, familiar foes will return to the track once more to play catch up as we drop to our final two slots for the BC Distaff.
Hard Tack's 2018 Triple Tiara heroine Heretic Queen leads the favorites parade today after showing improvement in her last several BC appearances, and she'll be looking to run them off their feet like she did in her sophomore season. 2019 Triple Tiara victress Elysium will be hot on her heels literally and figuratively, as these two fillies love the lead and like it best when they're flying solo. 2017 Triple Tiara winner Songbird flies the colors for Rhapsody and makes it a hat trick for the forum as the first time ever, three Tiara winners will face off - and all on the front end. Kentucky Derby winner Illicit adds to the glitz and glamour of the field and will look to improve on her last BC placings, coming up short by only two lengths in last week's Busher. Lark has shown some improvement as the season as gone on, and this flashy sophomore filly will be there to pick up the pieces if the three Tiara winners up front fail to fire. Acrimony brings up the back of the field and is once again thrown into the deep end, but her recent form in graded company may indicate she's back up on the upswing after a wonky spring campaign.
The storms have finally passed on the East Coast and it's nothing but sunshine as the track has finally dried out for a lightning quick dirt course for today's six fillies. It's a field full of jewels as four out of the six have won spring classics, but it's all up to the hands of fate as to which one will wear this year's orchids as they enter the gate for the Lady's Secret!
