Race Replay
Last week's English Channel Handicap saw Dubai victor Adamantium throw it down on the turf to hold off Warpaint in a desperate duel to the finish to win his spot in the BC Turf. This week, foes new and old take to the grass to earn their own berths into the BC Turf as count down to our last two slots.
Rhapsody's Warpaint leads the charge after falling just a neck short last week, and the flashy chesnut has the talent to back up that placing, having won or placed in more than half his starts. Stablemate Accendere ain't no slouch in the looks department and she's no pushover on the track either, with speed to spare and a devestating habit of running her rivals itnto the ground. Turn and Burn's Vixin ups the ante on both chrome and speed, as the blindingly splashed daughter of Empire City will look to use those quick feet of hers to keep her ahead of the pack to the wire. Dyllinger comes wrapped in a plain bay package but this dark bay colt has been on the steady upswing all through the summer season, grinding his way to placings with his characteristic style. Grey Candore with his sparkling dapples has the looks and the turn of foot to match, as the son of Di Neve has charged his way to the wire from out of the clouds more than once to stun his opponents. Carthage is in the double digits in the odds but his race record speaks of a far better horse than we've been seeing on our BC trail, leaving him as a bit of a headscratcher. Aidrie Apache makes his BC debut and as the longest shot on the board, has the ability to throw a huge upset as he's outrun his odds numerous times in the past in graded company.
The storms have finally passed on the East Coast and it's nothing but sunshine as the track has finally dried out for a hoof-rattling turf course for today's seven colts and fillies. It's a field full of sparkling resumes and impeccable breeding but it's all up to the hands of fate as to which one will wear this year's orchids as they enter the gate for the Dahlia Stakes!
