Race Replay
It's a new week and a new round of BC preps here on Seeing Stars! Today we start on the turf with a band of fabulous fillies going 9 furlongs in the Ouija Board.
Purity will lead the parade as the favorite here, coming off the narrowest of defeats in the St. Leger Stakes in England. Stablemate Regal will be hot on her heels after competing in the spring English Classics, and with her dam a two-time Breeders' Cup grass winner, she already has an edge on her competition. Wren completes the Rhapsody trifecta and this speedy front-running filly will be the one to catch on the front end if she manages to turn things her way. Turn & Burn's Sagittarius comes flying in off a Grade 3 score and this dead closer of a filly will have to translate that talent to a distance that may not be completely to her preference. Hard Tack's Palenque is a recent G2 graduate but has done little wrong in her career, blazing through the ranks with dangerous front end speed that has seen few pass her in deep stretch. Messalina is in the double digits and while this filly has impeccable bloodlines, as the daughter of Derby winner Augustus, that hasn't translated into wins outside of the allowance sphere.
It's a beautiful day for a horse race with the heat wave finally breaking and the wind streaming off the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The track is firm as can be for these six beautiful fillies and mares, and they'll have to use it to their full advantage to earn their spot in the Breeders' Cup. They're off in the 2019 Ouija Board Stakes!
