Race Replay
It's a new week and a new round of BC preps here on Seeing Stars! Next we move to the dirt with a band of six speedballs going 7 furlongs in the Dr. Fager.
Rhapsody leads the way with Overdraft, a crack dirt miler that has done little wrong in his long career and who figures to be one of the prominent pacemakers in this sprint. He's tied for favoritism with Shared Belief, who seems to have finally found his full stride after a confusing spring that saw peaks and valleys, each higher and lower than the last. Hard Tack's Baldur jumps ship from Classic territory into sprinting, and will look to translate that speed into a major cutback in distance. Grey Lani comes fresh off a spring campaign that saw him compete in 2/3rds of the Triple Crown, and he rides in off a G3 score that should set him up well for a fall campaign. The white Chantilly will make only her third start of the year into her newest foray at the Breeders' Cup and looks to transfer her solid dirt form into November success. Hells Bells is a huge longshot here at 20 to 1, and that may be well deserved, as the hard knocking son of champion Chime has had more downs than ups in his 2019 campaign.
It's a beautiful day for a horse race with the heat wave finally breaking and the wind streaming off the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The track is fast as can be for these six beautiful colts and filly, and they'll have to use it to their full advantage to earn their spot in the Breeders' Cup. They're off in the 2019 Dr. Fager Memorial Stakes!
