Race Replay
Last week saw Veramente Neve outduel her stablemate Accendere to the wire, gutting it out by a narrow half length to earn her spot in the BC Marathon. With only one more free spot available, it's down to another group of six fillies and mares as they slug it out to the wire in this year's Ribot Handicap.
Rhapsody's Accendere is the favorite here today after her gutsy second place effort last out, and while she's not the only speed horse in the field, that hasn't stopped her from coming from off the pace for a victory. Unrequited is second in line today and the dead closing filly may be at a disadvantage today, as the track seems to be playing more to speed than any horse coming from far off the pace, as she likes to do. Daella is third choice today after finishing second to Unrequited last out, and the flashy red mare seems to be peaking at the right time for a possible minor upset. Vixin will be fourth choice today and after finally breaking through for the F&M turf, has also shown to be on the upswing after a solid third last out. Secret Silence comes in off a second place finish in graded company, but while her form in open stakes is solid, she has yet to bring that to the BC preps that count. Kindle is longest on the board after graduating to G3 company, and while she's not as accomplished as her full brother Dracarys, who already qualified, she's talented in her own right, yet possibly over her head in this instance.
The temperatures have dropped and a bite of autumn is in the air as the trees around the East Coast begin their slow march to winter. Cooler weather, however, means we're one step closer to the Breeders' Cup and with one final spot on the line here today, it'll be a rodeo to the finish between these six fillies and mares as they line up in the gate for this year's Ribot Handicap!
