Race Replay
Last week saw Vixin skip her way to an easy victory, running roughshod over her six rivals to win for fun to earn her spot in the F&M Turf. With only one more free spot available, it's down to these six fillies and mares as they slug it out to the wire in this year's Gentildonna Handicap.
Hard Tack's Palenque is this week's favorite after winning her first G2 race in open company, and maybe the one to catch if she can get her own way today and run a solo performance on the lead. It's a group that follows with Regal next in line, after finishing second in two prior F&M preps and rarely finishing out of the Top 5 in her entire turf career. Noble Hierarch is hot on her heels and while the dual Classic winning filly has yet to find her stride on American turf, she's hit the board in both her prior prep starts in solid efforts. Vice Versa will look to improve on her past performances after several subpar races, but she's known to throw a few clunkers in between brilliant efforts and looks to be on her toes today. Turn & Burn's Sagittarius played second fiddle to her stablemate last out in the Miesque but closed well to finish second, though a distant one at that. Wren brings up the field after a string of headscratching performances, as the front running filly has shown no drive in the final run despite prior wins over half the field.
The temperatures have dropped and a bite of autumn is in the air as the trees around the East Coast begin their slow march to winter. Cooler weather, however, means we're one step closer to the Breeders' Cup and with one final spot on the line here today, it'll be a rodeo to the finish between these six fillies and mares as they line up in the gate for this year's Gentildonna Handicap!
