Race Replay
It's a new week and we're down to our final round of preps for this year's Breeders' Cup! We take to the turf for the first qualifying race for the BC Turf Sprint, and it's a field of seven crack turf sprinters to vie for the winner's circle in this year's Danehill Memorial Stakes.
Rhapsody's Lustre will lead the way today after already qualifying for the Turf and he'll be cutting way back in distance to only seven furlongs as he proves his versatility over our turf course. Hard Tack's Shizuka is next on tap and she's making her BC debut after having won her first G2 stakes that will hopefully set her up for a good showing today. Palenque is right behind her and while the palomino filly hasn't had any BC luck so far, a cutback in distance may prove to her like. However War Hero is one prime to upset the field as the sharpshooting son of Warlord will look to emulate his sire in winning a BC turf race and continue family tradition. Vice Versa also has had bad luck on the BC trail, finishing out of the money in all of her BC starts, with Sagittarius in the same boat, as she has failed to hit the board unlike her more talented stablemates. Chihenne is the longest shot of all, but not by much; however it remains to be seen if her late-running closing style will benefit her at all in the BC sprints.
After days of rain and clouds it's finally a clear but crisp day on the East Coast - perfect weather for a horse race! It's seven to take to the turf here today but only one will end up in the winner's circle for that coveted free spot in the Breeders' Cup. It's gates closed for this year's Danehill Memorial Handicap!
