Race Replay
Last week, Overdraft held off the determined rally of stablemate Shared Belief to score a return trip to the BC Dirt Mile. Today, another lucky six horses will line up for that third spot in the BC Dirt Mile, as they tackle 7 furlongs in this year's Phalaris Stakes!
Rhapsody's Mesmerize will lead the way today, and the filly that nearly spoiled two Triple Crowns in the same yaer will look to continue to her giant-killing streak with a win to the BC Dirt Mile. Scandal will try to beat her to the punch as the front running colt is the lone speed of the field and that is just what Scandal prefers. Shared Belief shares favortisim with his stablemate after a series of close finishes in his BC trials, and the colt is coming off a close second to Overdraft last out that saw him miss the wire by inches. General Disarray joins those two at 3 - 1, and while the dark bay colt has few accomplishments to his name, he somehow always ends up in the mix whether he means to or not. Acrimony is just behind them in the betting and while she was overshadowed by her more accomplished stablemates throughout her career, she has shown her own level of brilliance in higher tier races. Bad Wolf is the longest shot on the board, who after qualifying for the Sprint, has yet to win the board again in any BC prep.
We're less than a week from Halloween, but it's all treats today as the weather is sparkling clear and the horses shimmering in their costumes of BC saddlecloths. It's six to take to the dirt here today but only one will end up in the winner's circle for that coveted free spot in the Breeders' Cup. It's gates closed for this year's Corinthian Stakes!
