Race Replay
Last week Chihenne blew by the competition to clinch her second's Breeders' Cup trip of the year, outfinishing frontrunning Wren to the wire in the Goldikova. Today, seven more horses will vie for the very last spot available in our Breeders' Cup challenge series as we line them up in the Frankel!
Hard Tack's Shizuka will lead the post parade today but Sagittarius will be right there with as both of these fillies will be co-favorites today. Shizuka has finished second in a number of her BC preps and has shown enough fight to have won her a dozen races - if they hadn't been in the BC series. Sagittarius, however, won last out to punch her ticket to the Breeders' Cup in the Turf Sprint and she's looking for double here for the Mile. Dual classic winner Noble Hierarch will look for her first BC trip, but has yet to win going short and will try to outrun the bad luck that has dogged her in her mile races. Palenque has been on the upswing in her last starts, finally scoring a G2T win two starts back and hitting the board last out to send her into good form for today's challenge. Regal is another filly who has her BC trip locked up and will cut back from the F&M Turf to try the open company Mile. Vice Versa is a filly who has yet to win in the BC series and has found trouble outside of the BC preps, finishing off the board in her last several starts. Longest shot of all is Wren, who struck out by only a narrow margin last week and will look to outrun her odds again in our last BC Mile prep.
The curtain is closing on this year's Breeders' Cup Challenge series, with only one free spot left to win for our last few races. With seven horses ready to go under clear but cold skies, we say goodbye to this year's series and hello to the Breeders' Cup as they load into the gate for this year's Frankel Handicap!
