Race Replay
Two weeks ago, the road to the Lillies began with an upset as first-time entrant Coco took them gate to wire for her stable Lavender Hill, starting the season off with a bang as make our way to that first Friday in May for the Kentucky Oaks!
Despite a fifth last out, it's Girl Gone Wild that still has the bettors' faith and will try to transfer her strong championship juvenile form into her three-year-old year. Flashy little Buchiko is second choice after a strong second behind Coco last out on the Oaks trail, and she'll look to do one better today if her recent form is any indication. Last out winner Coco is up to third choice this time, with slightly better odds than her prior outing, but she'll have to prove that she's not just a lucky longshot against this level of competition. Dapper Doll is next on the list and has shown an upswing in her form, as has Under The Mask, coming off a victory in allowance company against some tougher rivals. We plunge into double digits with Turn & Burn's Duchess, an allowance winner having a streak of hard luck in her recent races. Groupie Doll hasn't fared much better, finishing off the board in her last several starts and unable to recapture her juvenile form that saw her win several listed stakes. Mary Lou and Gracie are both in similar boats, with both T&B fillies looking to improve their chances here despite the fierce competition.
Sunshine has finally triumphed over the grey pall that has decimated the East Coast for the last few days, and our nine shining fillies are taking to a fast track once again as they line up for those crucial Oaks points in this year's Davona Dale Stakes!
The Road to the Oaks continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
