Welcome to the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, formerly known as the Pimlico Oaks and the second jewel in the Filly Triple Tiara! The same distance as the Kentucky Oaks, this 9 furlong event is often a proving ground for future champions and a place for sweet, sweet revenge against a rival from Kentucky. Athena Watchover smashed the most talented field of fillies ever assembled on SS, but RKO's Annabella was closing fast and more than one new shooter is ready to turn the tables on the undisputed queen of Seeing Stars!

Two weeks ago, we witnessed the flare of greatness - Hawkstone's superfilly, Athena Watchover, stormed to a Kentucky Oaks victory over her rivals by a widening 6 lengths and smashed the previous stakes record by almost a full second. With such a smashing performance in the record books, it's hard to see what could topple the reigning champion 2 year old filly of 2014.
12 other fillies have been entered to try and take Athena Watchover down, with only one new filly appearing to challenge the Oaks queen. Voodoo, sporting the star-spangled silks of the Jewellz stables, returns with the majority of the Oaks field as second and third place finishers Annabella and Chime look to turn the tables on their nemesis. Annabella was closing fastest of all with Chime only a head back in third in a race loaded with speed, and it looks like it will be the same exact scenario here as Athena Watchover will be the one to catch as they enter the gate of the second Black Eyed Susan Stakes here on Seeing Stars.
The race for the second jewel of the Triple Tiara begins NOW!
