Race Replay
Last week saw the return of a legend as Athena Watchover blew the competition off the grass to take her second Da Hoss in a row to qualify for the BC Mile. Eight rivals return to vie for the chance to face off with her again as the storm clouds gather once more over the East Coast. Rhapsody leads the parade with Vintage, already qualified for the Turf and looking to make it a double, Chaos, runner up in this year's Derby and looking for his BC breakthrough, and Riot, a hard knocking colt still looking for that victory. Hard Tack isn't far behind with top turf fillies Obsidian, second last time out by only a length to Athena, and Boudacious, who has been struggling as of late to regain her excellent 2015 form. Hawkstone swoops in with Enigmatic Lament, looking to improve on several off the board finishes, and Danger Keep Away, a BC newbie but nonetheless stakes winning son of Warranty. Turn & Burn rounds out the field with longshot Onyx, a free wheeling colt and son of Chime who looks to walk in her burning hoofbeats. With only eight horses to take to the giving ground today, it is nonetheless a field deep with talent and credentials as they load into the gate for this year's Goldikova Stakes!
