Race Replay
It's that time of year again as new foals gambol in the field and winter descends in earnest on the country. For all new minted three year olds, however, it means that the race is on for the coveted Crown of spring Classics, and today we embark on that journey with six fabulous fillies all vying for a spot in the Kentucky Oaks!
Leading the way is Rhapsody's Chantilly, a sprinting specialist that is looking to regain her form after a somewhat disappointing fall campaign. She is joined by Songbird, gold medalist from Rio last summer and top two year old, and Tipsy, a late running grey looking to get her win streak back on track. Hard Tack, winner of last year's Oaks, enters Player Hater, one of the best sprinting fillies on the forum and another medalist from Rio, and Gaelic Gold, a half sister to last year's Oaks winner and last foal out of the champions Secretariat and Zenyatta. Rounding out the short field is Purple Heart, a daughter of the 2014 Kentucky Derby winner Lionheart that looks to step up in class. With only six fillies to contest this year's Silverbulletday, it's a field short on betting options but high on talent as they make their way to the starting gate under cloudy skies on the East Coast.
The Road to the Kentucky Oaks begins NOW on Seeing Stars!
