This is the 1st of 7 Kentucky Derby preps on Seeing Stars! Any points your horses earn in this race will be put toward a place in the starting gate of the Kentucky Derby on May 6. Race Replay
It's that time of year again as the spring Classics roar to the mainstage of thoroughbred racing, and all newly minted three year olds are revving their engines for a shot at the legendary Triple Crown!
Rhapsody leads the way again this year after earning their first Derby win last year, and this time come out with Motive, a speedy black colt that loves the lead and is dangerous once he gets away with it, and Delirium, a horse that made some noise last year in Rio but had a quiet end of the year campaign leading up to the new year. Hard Tack comes back once more with Upstart, another Rio winning colt that already has racked up a pair of wins in allowance company, and Lost Hero, son of 2015 Derby winner Prince of Thorns and Triple Tiara winner Athena Watchover. Turn & Burn returns with Keen Ice, another sharp allowance winner that rarely runs out of the money with his late closing kick, while Burning Acres returns with Legionaire, a dirt loving grey that does his best running late, and Purple Heart, daughter of 2014 Derby winner Lionheart as the only filly in the field and looking to improve on her current form. With only seven horses entered this year, it's a race that may be short on bets but is wide open on intrigue as some of the best bred horses we've ever seen take to the starting gate to earn their spot in the May 6 Kentucky Derby.
