Race Replay
Two weeks ago we saw Songbird soar to victory in her first win on the Oaks trail, trouncing her rivals by well over three lengths to rocket to the top of the of the leaderboard. This week, she returns to face familiar foes as we move on to the next prep in our series!
Rhapsody leads the way with a three-prong attack for Oaks points, led by two-year-old champion filly Songbird, already guaranteed a spot in this year's Oaks. Chantilly joins her stablemate this week and edges her out as the favorite, and will look to turn her sprinting success into a route of ground; Tipsy rounds out the threesome with another foray into the deep end, after coming up a bit short in previous outings. Hard Tack comes back swinging with Player Hater, the ultra consistent daughter of Fair Play who finished second to Songbird last out, and Gaelic Gold, a half-sister to a Derby and Oaks winner, looking to improve on her form. Purple Heart rounds out the field for Burning Acres, and the daughter of Lionheart will really need to step up her game to make an impact this week on a field of top class fillies. With only six once again to contest a flat mile on the main track, it's a field long on talent as they line up in the gate for this year's Las Virgenes Stakes!
The Road to the Kentucky Oaks continues NOW on SS!
