Race Replay
Two weeks ago we saw Keen Ice close like a freight train for his first win on the Derby trail, just outfinishing his rivals with a last-to-first move that bodes well for his chances in May. With seven more rivals to line up against him this week, it promises to be a race to remember as we conitnue on the trail to the roses!
Sunfire Stables leads the way with two-year-old male champion Augustus, and the overwhelming favorite towers tall over this field of three year old sophmores. Turn & Burn returns with Keen Ice, looking to keep his winstreak alive, and Hard Tack comes back with last week's second place finisher Upstart, looking to upset this week's prep at longer odds, and Lost Hero, the son of last year's Derby winner and steadily improving as the spring waxes. Rhapsody throws dead closer Apparition into the ring, and the consistent grey colt is second only to Augustus in terms of experience and seasoning; Motive will join his stablemate in hopes of notching another win on the Derby trail, having already beaten several in this field before and sporting the only speed in this field. Burning Acres sends out Legionaire, the dirt-loving closer that has been burning up allowance company, and Purple Heart, who has been struggling of late to hit the board. With eight horses looking to contest nine furlongs on a fast main track, this is the deepest prep yet on the Derby trail and it looks to be the most exciting by far as the field lines up for this year's Arkansas Derby!
The Road to the Kentucky Derby continues NOW on SS!
