Race Replay
Last week, Augustus stormed home in the Florida Derby to win by open lengths in the snow,
This week, Sunfire once again brings the champ to roost as Augustus is the heavy favorite off his previous score. Rhapsody follows closely with Apparition, a dead closer that has shown some speed in the past, and Motive, looking to avenge his loss last week and notch another score on the road to the roses. Hard Tack comes back once more with Upstart, a colt still looking to regain that form that showed so much promise earlier in the season; Lost Hero, another horse trying to impress on the Derby trail; and newcomer Cat Scratch Fever, a son of 2014 Derby winner Lionheart that will try to carry his speed against a whole new class of rivals. Turn & Burn comes back swinging with Keen Ice, who has finished only once off the board in the series, while Burning Acres tries once more with Legionaire, a dirt-loving colt that has been ruling allowance company, and filly Purple Heart, a half sister to Cat Scratch Fever and still struggling to find her OL form. With nine horses now in play for that first Saturday in May, it promises to be a show in the sun as we load up in the gate for this year's Fountain of Youth Stakes!
The Road to the Derby continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
