Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Augustus continued to exert his dominance over three year old colts with another gritty perfomance, slugging it out head to head with speedster Motive to just prevail by a flared nostril. This week, 9 colts and 1 filly will line up in the starting gate once more as we near the end of the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
Sunfire Stables' Augustus will once more come up the favorite, towering head and shoulders above his peers. Rhapsody will be close behind with second choice Motive, second last out in the Fountain of Youth by a mere nose, followed by stablemates Delirium, a promising colt that looks to be up on the upswing, and Apparition, a late running grey that comes out of nowhere to live up to his name. Turn & Burn is loaded up dead closer Keen Ice, who's already won a Derby prep and off the board only once in the entire series. Hard Tack comes back in with Lost Hero, a son of a Derby winner and Triple Tiara winner, Upstart, looking to regain his struggling form and newcomer Cat Scratch Fever, another royally bred colt looking to grab Derby glory. Burning Acres rounds out the field with Legionaire, a narrow second last out in allowance company, and Purple Heart, the lone filly and struggling in the deep end of the track as she jumps up in class. With ten horses going to the post this time out, it promises to be a race full of excitement as we look to topple Goliath in his year's Santa Anita Derby!
The Road to the Kentucky Derby continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
