Race Replay
It's the race we've all been waiting for, and there's 12 horses, young and old, male and female, to contest those long 10 furlongs as we proudly bring you the DUBAI WORLD CUP!
Sunfire's 3 year old Augustus leads the way as the narrow favorite, a winner last time out over his peers and looking to beat older horses for the first time. Hawkstone follows closely on his heels with Caprido, the Round 3 Challenge winner with a stalk and pounce turn of foot; The Final Apostle, champion male sprinter but also multiple winner at route of ground; and Lethal, champion older female in 2015 and multiple stakes winner over fillies and colts. Hard Tack returns with 2016 champion older female and Round 1 Challenge winner Ruffian, here in her final career race, and longshot Wild Card, who looks to take a step up in class after hitting the board last out. Rhapsody turns up the heat with Motive, a top three year old on the Derby trail; Apparition, a dead closer that looks to transfer his winning turf form to dirt; and older filly Charisma, who made a lot of noise as a three year old and has already sent up sparks in her 2017 debut. Turn & Burn comes with a double attack of Keen Ice, another top Derby hopeful, and Leon, a front runner with a flashy coat that looks to ensure an honest pace. Black Water Estate rounds out the field with Lich, a late running colt that has shown affinity for 10 furlongs and Dubai's long stretch.
It's 12 horses to vie for the top marks in Dubai and any one of them has a shot for immortality as we load up into the gate for the richest thoroughbred race overseas.
WELCOME TO THE 2017 EDITION OF THE DUBAI WORLD CUP!
