It's the first Friday in May and that means the Kentucky Oaks is finally here! With only small fields going to the post this year, it has nonetheless proven to be an exciting ride as these 7 fillies look to emulate the near-record breaking season of Cyclone Princess in 2016. It's the ultimate test for three year old fillies and in a field loaded with so much talent, it's going to be one helluva ride from gate to wire as we gear up for an explosion of girl power that will knock any colt's socks off!

Call
It's the first Friday in May and the rain has turned the main track into a veritable bog as six fillies take to the dirt for the 2017 Kentucky Oaks! Months of preps and races have led up to this moment for these three year olds, and it's all on the line as they march to the starting gate.
Champion 2 Year Old Filly Songbird leads the parade as the narrow favorite, followed closely by Hard Tack's Player Hater, with these two speedballs already familiar rivals for the lead. Gaelic Gold checks in as the third betting choice after winning last week's Gazelle, followed by the grey Tipsy, still looking for that graded stakes win. Dubai winner Chantilly is fifth on the morning line, but only by the shortest margins, and Burning Acres' Purple Heart is the longest shot in the field but is coming off a strong showing in her last race to round into the best form of her recent career.
With more rain falling from the sky, it's weather more fit for an ark than a horse race, but it'll take more than a storm to keep these fillies from their ultimate goal - a coronation of lillies on this first Friday in May.
