Two weeks ago we saw Songbird rally from off the pace to dominate her fellow sophomores, holding off a belated run from Gaelic Gold to take the lillies. With the first jewel of the Triple Tiara firmly under her wing, Songbird comes back again to take on all challengers as the fight for the Tiara moves to Baltimore, MD and into storied Pimlico Racetrack. With a near miss last year and Athena's Triple Triumph still on the forefront of fans' minds, it's a tall order to fill this year as we expect a compact field to contest the second jewel of the Triple Tiara.

Two weeks ago, we saw Songbird blow the competition out of the air and prove once more why she is the champion 2 year old filly. With another sloppy track after an unexpected deluge of rain just an hour before the race, she is once again lining up against five familiar foes as we arrive in Baltimore, MD for the second jewel of the filly Triple Tiara!
This week it is Hard Tack's Gaelic Gold that holds narrow favoritism in the race, only a smidge more popular with bettors after a scintillating stakes victory just days ago, while Rhapsody's Tipsy is the narrow second choice. Songbird comes in as the third choice today, despite her dominance so far on the Tiara trail; stablemate Chantilly and Hard Tack's Player Hater both hold steady as the co-fourth choices, while Purple Heart is once again the longshot, despite showing some recent sparkling form in listed stakes.
It's a small but shining field that takes to the mud once more for this week's race, and the parade is led by the flying Songbird as they load into the gate for the 2017 edition of the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.
