Three weeks ago, Songbird stormed to the wire first to continue her bid to the Triple Tiara, outlasting a 6 furlong duel with stablemate Chantilly and a late rally from Gaelic Gold to post a record setting performance in the Black Eyed Susan Stakes.

Today Songbird is the narrow favorite as she looks to seal her legacy here in the Acorn Stakes, with stablemate Tipsy the close second choice and Chantilly sitting fourth choice. Gaelic Gold is the third betting favorite based on her previous two second place finishes while Player Hater is co-fourth choice with Chantilly, while Purple Heart sits double digits. There's only 6 fillies to once again to contest the Acorn Stakes, but it's a monster of a field nonetheless as Songbird puts it on all the line for that elusive jeweled crown.

While we have failed to see another colt take the Triple Crown, Songbird is the second filly to storm to the wire first to take down the coveted Triple Tiara after Athena Watchover in 2015. Forfeiting the lead to Tipsy throughout, Songbird was given a shake up on the rail and blew to the lead with stablemate Tipsy struggling to catch up in her wake, while Player Hater could only manage third with a mild bid in the center of the track. Songbird equals the track and stakes record, and has thus far either set or at least equaled the stakes records in every single Triple Tiara race.

I am super proud of ALL of the horses that competed this year - and so excited to see all the new faces in racing! With another Triple Tiara in the books, I'm seeing some really nice 2 year old fillies coming together already and there may be yet another filly to wear that crown as we all reconvene for the spring filly classics.
