Race Replay
Two weeks ago, it was a dark horse that lit up the tote board, as Fifth Month soared to the winner's circle to become her stable's first San Felipe winner and shake up the Derby picture as a second filly in a row took a Derby prep.
Fifth Month is nowhere to be found this time around but Blue Jay's two year old male champ is back for more as the narrow favorite. Passero has struggled to regain his form but don't count him out just yet. Hawkstone returns once more with Lady of Athens, a breakout daughter of TT winner Athena Watchover; Other Worlds, Lady's half brother and looking to blow up on the Derby trail with his second career victory; and longshot Redeemed, who keeps chugging along and coming back for mre. Rhapsody isn't far behind with front running Pagan, another dangerous colt on the lead; Shared Belief, a late running colt that has been on the upswing; and Scandal, a black bullet that only just missed last out. Hard Tack rounds out the field with Heretic Queen, this year's gusty winner of both the Las Virgines and the Rebel Stakes; and Fulgurite, another free wheeling colt that is looking to find his way back to the winner's circle after a sharp juvenile season.
The day after the bomb cyclone has dawned dark and cold, but the track is lightning fast as these nine speedy colts and fillies line up in the gate for this year's Arkansas Derby!
The Road to the Kentucky Derby continues NOW on SS!
