Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Heretic Queen blazed to her second victory on the Oaks trail, catapulting her to the top of the 3 year old fillies division as the speedy daughter of Cyclone Princess looks to follow in her parents' hallowed hoofprints.
This week, Heretic Queen is back for more as the narrow favorite, with her hard knocking half sister Acrimony looking to build on a second place allowance win and improve her Kentucky Oaks point score. Hawkstone swoops in with last out winner Lady of Athens, who beat the boys in the Arkansas Derby, and looks for her first Oaks score of the year; she's accompanied by longshot Redeemed, still struggling in the deep end of the pool. Rhapsody returns with Mesmerize, winner of the Silverbulletday and looming late-race threat; Cursed, a grey filly knocking on the door of a breakthrough; and Cynic, another second place allowance winner last out ready for more. Toxic Bloom Stables makes their Triple Tiara debut with Lady of Thorns, the fourth daughter of Cyclone Princess on the Oaks trail this year and a dead closer looking for that all important pace meltdown.
It's a bright but cold day on the East Coast as winter finally seems to loosen its grip on the world, and these eight fabulous fillies are looking to take advantage of a fast track as they all step into the gate for this year's Gulfstream Park Oaks!
The Road to the Oaks continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
