Race Replay
Two weeks ago, it was Lady of Athens to score again on the Derby trail, as the fillies have continued their domination in the Road to the Roses. With rain and high winds scouring the East Coast, we're down to the penultimate Derby prep as 9 colts and fillies take to the sloppy track to clash once more for those crucial qualifying points.
Scandal will lead the way for Rhapsody this week after a strong showing in Dubai, while UAE Derby winner Pagan is only a smidge behind in the second spot, while stablemate Shared Belief will once again have to play second fiddle to his two talented rivals despite a second place in the Florida Derby. Heretic Queen has planted herself firmly in the mix despite a poor showing in Dubai, coming off a strong second in the Ashland, while Fulgurite is still struggling to stop his downward spiral as he has failed to hit the board in his last few efforts. Passero is still in the mix after an unchararistic off the board showing in Dubai, and the sprightly bay colt will have to make sure to keep himself out of the same trouble he found in the UAE Derby. Lady of Athens is further down on the tote board despite her gusty victory in the Ashland, and will need a clean break to get away to that easy lead she had last out; stablemates Other Worlds and Redeemed are once again left in the shadows as they both struggle to keep up with their fast developing peers.
It's April showers that may bring some May flowers for the winner of this prep, as our 9 contentious athletes take to the soupy main track for this year's Santa Anita Derby!
The Road to the Derby continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
