Race Replay
Two(ish) weeks ago, Lady of Athens smashed a two year old record in the Ashland Stakes, outstaying archrival Heretic Queen to the finish. With this final prep before the Kentucky Oaks, it's all on the line for our three year olds as they fight for those last Oaks points and stats before one of them is crowned with Lillies!
Rhapsody leads the way with Mesmerize, the first winner on the 2018 Oaks trail and a serious contender with a number of runner up finishes. She's joined by stablemates Cursed, another filly with several close calls, and Cynic, a winner in open company that's still finding her stride among this generation's best fillies. Hard Tack is hot on their heels with Heretic Queen, heavy favorite for the Oaks and top pick for the Derby, and Acrimony, a half sister to both Heretic Queen and Cynic, and a filly that's been asked of a bit too much in this year's Oaks trail. Hawkstone rounds out the field with Lady of Athens, another top contender for both the Oaks and Derby, and multiple winner in this year's Classics lead up, and Redeemed, loveable loser and try hard that never seems to get things to go her way.
With spring in full swing, the track is lightning fast and the horses glittering like living diamonds as these seven fillies take to the track for the final Oaks prep of 2018, the Gazelle Stakes!
The Road to the Kentucky Oaks ENDS NOW on Seeing Stars!
