Three weeks ago, Pagan roared to the wire first to emphatically announce his takeover of the racing world, repelling duel challenges of both Scandal and Heretic Queen to take down the second jewel of the Triple Crown - and give this forum hope that after six long years, we will be able to crown yet another champion. We move to Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes, a grueling 12 furlong test on the main track, a distance that many of these horses will never see again. There are challengers galore looking to snatch victory from Pagan's hooves, with rivals old and new looking to take down the king before he can be crowned. Will Pagan succeed where Seabiscuit triumphed - or will he follow Skeptic and so many other others into the annals of history as the "might have beens", if only the race had been a furlong shorter.

Three weeks ago, Pagan romped in the Preakness by nearly four lengths over late-running Scandal to earn his shot at horse racing immortality and take the second jewel of the Triple Crown. Now the real test is here - 12 long furlongs at beautiful Belmont Park, around three sweeping turns in the longest distance of the series and the one that will make or break a champion.
Pagan is the rightful favorite as he stands at the cusp of history, with stablemate Mesmerize looking to play David to his Goliath as the second choice and the only new face of the Triple Crown series. Heretic Queen is the third choice here after several good showings in the TC races, with Scandal fourth choice after last week's 2nd place, while 2 year old champ Passero will clock in the fifth choice after some dull showings. Lady of Athens is next on the board and is looking to duplicate her good Tiar a showings, while Fulgurite will have to settle for seventh choice after failing to hit the board in any of his recent starts. Other Worlds is the longest shot of them all and has only some listed allowance placings on his recent resume to afford even that long price.
It's a gang of familiar faces and flying dirt as these eight colts and fillies take to the track for the final spring classic. History is waiting - whether it is in the agony of the fallen or the immortality of the victor, it all comes down to 12 grueling furlongs on the main Belmont track.
The Triple Crown all comes to an end NOW on Seeing Stars!
