Race Replay
Two weeks ago, we started this road to the Roses with a boom as Elysium stormed to the wire to become the second filly in a row to win the Rebel! This week, she looks to have a tougher time of it as nine colts and fillies take to the track for a shot at the Derby starting gate.
It'll be Hard Tack's Lani to hold the crowd's attention today after his hard charging second in the Rebel, with the familiar Illicit holding sway as the second choice once again. General Disarray will join her as the second co-favorite despite his lackluster effort last out, but the colt has shown potential in allowance races prior to last week. Stablemates Damask and Lark will follow on their heels after a pair of out of the money finishes, while Rebel winner Elysium has still failed to catch the eyes of handicappers despite two sharp victories. Shark, Katrina and Penny will all clock in at high double digits, with Shark debuting on the TC trail for the first time as all three horses look to swim in the deep end of the pool for Road to the Roses glory.
Darkness is spreading over the Appalachians here on the East Coast, but the wind is about to give these colts and fillies a run for their money as it picks up with the setting sun. Our nine familiar faces are taking to the track once again as they line up for those crucial Derby points in this year's San Felipe Stakes!
