Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Elysium continued her blitz of the filly ranks as she stormed to the wire first in the Gulfstream Park Oaks. She returns this week along with six other challengers to take to the track as spring continues its march along the East Coast with warming temperatures and a fast track.
Rhapsody's Illicit continues to reign as the favorite after her win two weeks ago in the Florida Derby over colts and her several seconds to Elysium on the Oaks trail. Elysium isn't far behind in the betting and the crowd's affections, but she'll be hard pressed on the front end with half-sister Djinn there to crowd her out. Noble Hierarch is on the upswing after an allowance win last out and she'll be there to pick up the pieces at the end, as will Lark as the tobiano filly looks for her first placing in the Triple Tiara trail. Newcomer Elixir racing for Synovus looks to flash that early speed too, as the daughter of Skeptic breaks onto the Triple Tiara trail for her barn. Wildbird will be the longest shot on the board but this impeccably bred daughter of a TC and TT winner has flashed brilliance and speed and is not one to discount.
A breath of spring is in the air as the temperatures have finally spiked into the 60s here on the East Coast, and it's a fast and bright track ready for these seven fabulous fillies as we line up for this year's Fairground Oaks!
The Road to the Oaks continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
