Race Replay
Last week's Tiznow Handicap saw 2018 Triple Crown winner Pagan finally run to the blowout victory he's been aiming for over 2018 Tiara winner Heretic Queen to earn his place in this year's Classic. Foes old and new are gathering on the dirt in a return to the track once more as we drop to our final two slots for the BC Classic.
2019 Triple Tiara victress Elysium will lead the post parade as the narrow favorite, after running a close third in the Lady's Secret and showing a return to form in a somewhat dismal post-season campaign. Rhapsody's Scandal looks to be a wildcard today in his BC debut, as the front-running black colt has more than once sprinted to the front and never looked back in major stakes through this season and last. 2018 Tiara heroine Heretic Queen is fresh off her own BC victory and will look to add a second to an already sparkling resume as she joins Elysium and Scandal on the front end. 2019 Kentucky Derby winner Illicit joins the Classic fray and has already proven her mettle this season, racking up 2nds and 3rds as she grinds her way to the winner's circle. 2019 Preakness hero Damask returns and is looking for his first win after his Classic victory, and has come close enough on numerous occasions to merit serious consideration. General Disarray is the longest shot on the board and has placed in the English classics outside of his Triple Crown foray - though his turf form has yet to be duplicated on the dirt our own classics are so fond of.
The storms have finally passed on the East Coast and it's nothing but sunshine as the track has finally dried out for a lightning quick dirt course for today's six colts fillies. It's a field full of jewels as four out of the six have won spring classics with another placing in the English Classics, but it's all up to the hands of fate as to which one will wear this year's orchids as they enter the gate for the Spectacular Bid!
