Race Replay
Last week saw Lani outduel his way to the wire with odds-on favorite Shared Belief glued to his hip, and secure victory by only a narrow head. Today, it's the shortest field so far in BC history, with only four colts and one filly to contest the six furlong Bold Ruler on the main track.
Rhapsody's Shared Belief is the favorite indeed after his intense stretch drive last out and looks to be the one to beat in this short field of five. Stablemate Chantilly will be hot on his heels as this bright white mare looks for redemption after last week's off the board finish. Baldur led the pack in the Dr. Fager but weakened late in the final stages, something he needs to turn around if he wants to make it to the Breeders' Cup. Stablemate Bad Wolf makes his BC debut with a somewhat spotty resume, but a cutback in distance may help this dappled bay stallion. Hells Bells is the longest shot on the board but a speed demon in the right conditions, making him the prime suspect for an upset.
It's another beautiful day for a horse race with the clouds nowhere to be seen and the sun shining like a supernova in the sky. The track is fast as can be for these five stellar colts and filly, and they'll have to use it to their full advantage to earn their spot in the Breeders' Cup. They're off in the 2019 Bold Ruler Handicap!
