Race Replay
Last week, Bolo returned from a lengthy layoff to romp over his rivals, storming to his Mile berth over the hard-trying Shizuka to score his free BC trip. This week, seven more horses will look to emulate his winning ways as we take to the main turf course for this year's Da Hoss!
Hard Tack's Shizuka will lead the parade today after two hard-trying efforts last out, with the little bay mare running her heart out and more with each successive BC effort. Rhapsody's Lustre will held second choice after scoring two BC turf berths of his own, and he'll look for a hat trick for the Mile to become the first horse to run in the Mile, Turf Sprint and Turf. Vice Versa is behind them on the morning line, having run well enough outside of the BC preps to earn some bettor notice, although she has yet to hit the board in her BC quest. Sagittarius is right there with her, and while this buckskin mare has yet to score in the BC, she's shown she's dangerous with a hot lead in front of her. Chihenne is fresh off of her Turf Sprint berth, but while she's a crack sprinter, a mile has proven to be elusive. Wren is looking to lead the pace today after a few subpar BC efforts, but this little mare, like her namesake, has made a lot of noise outside of the BC with several top-level wins. Aidrie Apache rounds out the field as the longest shot on the board, which may be well-earned; his capricious habits have earned him the ire of the betting public and backstretch alike.
The first frost of the year has gilded the turf course silver in the morning but the sun is now shining and setting our horses gleaming like diamonds. It's seven to take to the turf here today but only one will end up in the winner's circle for that coveted free spot in the Breeders' Cup. It's gates closed for this year's Da Hoss Handicap!
